Media Trump Syndrome
04/15/20 19:17
The media's hatred of all things Trump is getting old. No matter what Trump does or says, he is attacked. Trump fights back, and that just drives them out of their minds. The press briefing montage of their very own statements has them screaming. Their lies, distortions, and manipulations were laid bare for all Americans to see for themselves. CNN and others were quick to cut off the briefing's live feed, substituting more outright lies about the briefing content.
At some point, the media must be held accountable. They're quick to hide behind the First Amendment when it suits their agenda. But the First Amendment doesn't guarantee the right to lie, distort, and manipulate the truth without consequence. Libel and slander laws exist to provide protection and redress from media abuse at any level. It's past time for Americans to use available legal tools to force the media to clean up their act… the media exists to report without bias, not to promote some off-the-wall left wing agenda. This is not to say, of course, that the media should not be able to offer commentary in addition to the news. Commentary is as vital a part of American journalism as is reporting – but commentary and reporting must remain clearly and distinctly separated.
